Why makuchaku
On a polular request…
When I was in beginning of 3rd year, I used to call myself mac48bit. It used to be in sync with my “technical” likings (specially when I did my CCNA)
. All my forum logins/mail-ID’s etc were mac48bit. It literally meant “a 48 bit MAC address” (grin!).
Then my bro started calling me MakGrathi, named after the austrailian bowler McGrath (if you watch cricket, you might know who he is). Slowly it disintegrated into “maku” & gradually, I changed it to “makuchaku”, with “chaku” just to make it a full word.
Actually, “makuchaku” has a lot of benefits!
1) Almost everyone is curious to know what the heck! it means.
2) Everyone on the Delhi Linux User Group knows me by this name. Its kinda very unique!
3) Any domain name & login on even the busiest mail server is easily
available by this name, because its unique!
4) I liked to be called “makuchaku” or even “maku”

Hope it makes you a bit less curious ![]()
