    Don’t forget that the availability planned for late March (possible early April) is targetted for developers and hackers only, i.e. the complete softwarestack is not quite ready yet, and developers and testers are invited to join in for this preview to fix the quirks and bugs. This is called “phase 1″.

    It is suppose to be released as final version with fully working, bugfree around September-ish later this year. Then it will be marketed for grand-mas, Joe Sixpacks, Soccer Moms and Dreyfus the dog. This release is called “phase 2″.

    It’s also been announced from the OpenMoko team, though not many details have been leaked, that the hardware of the Neo1973 will be “refreshed” (i.e. upgrade the CPU, and /possibly/ some other features may be added, we’ll see…) during the summer, around June-ish.

    I’m aiming for a phase 1 preview device myself to participate in this fully open mobile phone project!
